Welcome to Mendoza, Argentina! The capital of bueno Vino and good Beef! Our first night after checking into our hostel - brought us to Lucas' right down the street. Can't beat it, dinner for 2 under $5.00......

My climbing partner Dan - we're at the main ranger station trying to pick up our 20 day hiking pass. Turned out we needed "special" permission to climb off season, but our buddy Luis pulled some strings, Thanks!!!!!

Here it is, the start of our journey - the trail head to the Polish Glacier route. It was round 7pm, we decided to go ahead and go in at night, so most of the trip (6 hours) was in the dark - lit by the full moon and our LED's.

Our first camp, just before Llena's. We found a great fortified spot and crashed, we were beat after bushwhacking in the dark for 6 hours so we pitched here. You can see my new Bibler!! wohoo!

A view looking North - towards Llenas from our tent spot. The water was drinkable and clean but very silty for the first few days until we got to Base Camp.

Here comes Laligma! Our "Crying Voice" Mulateer! He blew by us at around 11am, and beat us up to Casa Piedra by about 4 hours. You can see our 2 bags on the mule. The mules travel at about 4mph, while we slow pokes are hiking at 2mph.

Llenas looking North, 2 Mulas, and our Mulateers border collie (who tags along for the ride). What a view! About 30 min past this you cross a small suspension bridge to hike on the other side.

Casa Piedra, around 10,000 ft. We had a beautiful sunset just before dinner, and our first great views of the mountain peaking through the valley. Both of us were beat, 8 hours of hiking we were happy to put our packs down for the night and set up our tents.
