Mount Kilimanjaro National Park - Umbwe Route

More pictures and commentary to follow....

Day 1 - Walking through the rain forest below Kili we saw some flowers.
Lobelia Kilimanjari- once we entered the mooreland at about 12,000-13,000 feet we began to see these beautiful plants.
Day 2 - great view of the Baranco Wall looking up towards Kibo the summit. If you look closely enough you can see Camp 2.

Day 2 - The Great Baranco Wall - with Kibo above. We camped at just above 13,000 feet, and slept under the summit.
Here's me just before the sun set. There's my tent - we went to be right after this and boy did i have a terrible night sleep. The altitude really hit me hard that night and in the morning i was a wreck. Luckily the next night I felt much better, we slept at the same altitude.
Day 4 - On our way up to Barafu at 15,500 feet. You can see clearly what kind of trails are up there. The clouds rolled through us all day so we were a little damp. A porter carrying someones gear runs by us.

Day 5 - Stella Point at 6:01am just in time for Sunrise.

Uhuru Peak - The top of Africa! We all felt extemely happy to make it up, after 6 1/2 hours of hiking all night, we all celebrated!

View of Kibo Crater - the top is is just absolutely enormous!
