Lucca, only 2
hours away from Florence by train. It was perfect. Probably our
favorite place. Surround by a brick wall that goes all around
the village (3 miles) built back in the 11th century. You can
walk, run, bike or skip your way around this charming village.
The well known musician, Poccini was born in Lucca. Our hotel
actually was named after him, providing us a window view of his
statue in the piazza located below. This village was known for
bikes (not cars) as the main form of transportation. It was fantastic,
Eric and I joined the crowed and rented bikes the next while we
were there. We saw of all ages, young and old, little children
enjoying the ride and little dogs. We had entered a completely
different world! One that we definitely could become accustom
too! |
