From the Trail Crest you can get a great profile view of Mt. Whitney and just make out the shelter on top with your bear eyes. |

10:30am - Jenny and Jeff at Trail Crest - having completed the switchback section we now had to traverse across behind the spires then up to the summit. It took us 2 hours to climb through the switch backs. |

The top was fairly precarious, you could climb on some large slabs of rock - but the it dropped straight down, probably a good 3,000 feet or so. |

Jeffrey hanging out after we got back to Trail Camp - we put some layers on and sat down for a bit of Salami before getting dinner ready. We returned to Trail Camp at around 3:15pm. Total time just over 7 hours of hiking for today! |

A little Pica lived with us up at Trail Camp - coming for quick visits making sure we had cleaned up all the crumbs after our meals. |

Hikers kept coming down from the Switchbacks well into the night. Many hikers only had day passes - so they came and went all day. We were happy to be able to crash in our tents after a day like this. |
