From the Trail Crest you can get a great profile view of Mt. Whitney and just make out the shelter on top with your bear eyes.

Jeffrey brought up a celbratory beverage (some Jack Daniels) to be enjoyed on the Summit. Thanks Jeff! I think he's looking for a Beverage sponsorship for future climbs. Give his agent a call.

A fat Marmot greeted many of the hikers - and joined in on the feast apparently.

The top was fairly precarious, you could climb on some large slabs of rock - but the it dropped straight down, probably a good 3,000 feet or so.

Looking Eastward towards Lone Pine, and Trail Camp. You can just barely see the lake/pond at Trail camp. But you can see directly down the valley - 6,500 feet below us is Whitney Portal.

A little Pica lived with us up at Trail Camp - coming for quick visits making sure we had cleaned up all the crumbs after our meals.

Hikers kept coming down from the Switchbacks well into the night. Many hikers only had day passes - so they came and went all day. We were happy to be able to crash in our tents after a day like this.
